PTE: WALTERS, AUSTIN J.

Austin John Walters, born 4th quarter of 1893 and registered in Swansea.1 


Parents: John H. (Head), an Agricultural Labourer, age 30, born: Bude, Devonshire and Alice Walters, age 26, born: Eckington, Worcester. Daughter: Alice Maud, age 4. Sons: Austin J. age 7 and Arthur W. age 5. The 3 children were born in Swansea, Glamorgan. They only spoke English and lived at Gorsefach, Sketty, in the village of Cockett.2 


Parents: John Walters, (Head), A Colliery Repairer Below Ground, age 40 and Alice, age36, Married: 18 years, 6 children born alive and 5 still living. Daughters: Alice,  at School, age 14 and May, age 5. Sons: Austin, a Market Gardener, age 17, Arthur, a Butcher’s Apprentice, age 15 and Hephen, age 6. All children born in Cockett, Glamorgan. They spoke only English and lived at Stepney Road, Cockett, Swansea.3

Service Number Bristol Z/172. Died age 21, 27th June 1915, Grave Reference C. 89. Lancashire Landing Cemetery, Turkey (including Gallipoli).4
