John William Stanley, married Edith Ellen Titcomb in the 1st quarter of 1907, registered at Swansea.1


Wife: Edith Ellen Stanley, (Head), age 23, Married: 4 years, 4 children born alive, 2 still living, born: Abingdon, Berkshire, England. Daughters: Florence Emily, age 3 and Olive May, age 1, both born: Penderry, Glamorgan. Niece: Daisy Annie S. Pembroke, at School, age 14, born: Shinfield, Berkshire, England.  They all spoke only English and lived at 2 Primrose Terrace, Ystrad Road, Fforestfach, Swansea.2


John Stanley, Born: Gloucester.  Residence: Reading.  Died of wounds in France and Flanders.3


J. Stanley, Rifleman, Rifle Brigade, 1st Battalion, Service Number 9269. Died: 20th December 1914, Grave Reference: I. B. 8. London Rifle Brigade Cemetery, Hainaut, Belguim.4

John Stanley, at 19 years and 10 months, joined the Rifle Brigade. Description: Height 5ft. 4½ inches. Weight: 115 pounds. Chest Measurement: 32 inches, expanded 34 inches. Fair Complexion, brown eyes and black hair. Church of England Religion.  Family: Widow, Edith Ellen Stanley, Children:  Florence Emily Stanley, Olive May Stanley, David Thomas Stanley and Charles Leslie Stanley. They lived at Ystrad Road, Fforestfach, Swansea.  Sister: Emily Kate Kimbry, age 43, and lived at No. 2, Windsor Terrace, Fforestfach, Swansea. Died of wounds 20.12.1914.5
